Distinguishability and Disturbance in the Quantum Key Distribution Protocol Using the Mean Multi-Kings’ Problem

We introduce a quantum key distribution protocol using mean multi-kings’ problem. Using this protocol, a sender can share a bit sequence as a secret key with receivers. We consider a relation between information gain by an eavesdropper and disturbance contained in legitimate users’ information. In BB84 protocol, such relation is known as the so-called information disturbance theorem. We focus on a setting that the sender and two receivers try to share bit sequences and the eavesdropper tries to extract information by interacting legitimate users’ systems and an ancilla system. We derive trade-off inequalities between distinguishability of quantum states corresponding to the bit sequence for the eavesdropper and error probability of the bit sequence shared with the legitimate users. Our inequalities show that eavesdropper’s extracting information regarding the secret keys inevitably induces disturbing the states and increasing the error probability.     

Physical and Chemical Properties of Four-Membered Bis(triphenylphosphane)platinum(II) Sulfenato Thiolato Complexes

The reaction of isolable dithiirane 1-oxides with (Ph 3 P) 2 Pt( m 2 -C 2 H 4 ) provided the title complexes in high yields. 31 P NMR spectroscopy of the phosphine ligands of the complexes and x-ray crystallographic analysis of a complex were reported.     

Superconducting Properties in Metallic Phase of NbS3

Metallic phase of NbS₃ was synthesized by heating the crystal of semiconducting NbS₃. Metallic NbS₃ undergoes superconducting transition around 2 K. The analysis of the angular dependence of the upper critical magnetic field suggests that the effect of filmy or fibrous morphology plays an important role in the superconducting properties.     

Formation of 3-Hydroxyalkyl Carbamates from Carbon Dioxide,Amines and Oxetanes

The reactions of carbon dioxide, primary or secondary aliphatic amines and oxetanes at a CO₂ pressure of 40 atm at 100–120°C without any catalysts afforded new monocarbamates of 1,3-propanediols, with concomitant formation of amino alcohols from oxetanes and amines.     

Hydrogen bonding in macrocyclic receptor systems

Abstract

The interactions of macrocyclic polyethers with alkali and alkaline earth cations have been well studied and much about their chemistry is now well understood. Less well examined or comprehended are hydrogen bond interactions. A combination of ion selective electrode binding constant determination techniques and fast atom bombardment mass spectrometry are brought to bear on this problem. It is found that all-oxygen crown ethers and their derivatives exhibit quite different complexation behaviour with ammonium salts than do their various azacrown counterparts.
